“…For A Black Girl.”

“You are so pretty for a black girl.”

Thank you would not be an appropriate response, yet neither would cursing out your absent minded admirer for highlighting your beauty, with conditions.  So what should one say when being spoken to as if everyone else (besides the people who look like you) has cornered the market on beauty?  No really, we’ve gotta know.

This way of thinking is oftentimes meant to be complimentary to women of color, especially black women.  The problem however, is that it suggests that black beauty is somehow an anomaly; like a special exception and not the standard.

Well, the founder of this company rejects this notion and has thusly designed this site and specialty products to reassure black girls that they ARE pretty (or insert other awesome adjective here). PERIOD. No suffix necessary.
